How to Recover From Mesotherapy

How to Recover From Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is the process of injecting small amounts of medication directly into the layer of fat and connective tissue just beneath the skin. The goal of this treatment is usually to remove cellulite from the waist and hips, remove fat pads from the eyelids and tighten the skin on the face and neck.

1

Encounter short term effects that last for a few hours. These include a minor burning sensation and local pain.

2

Look for bruising, itching, soreness, tenderness and throbbing that may last for a few days. An allergic reaction to the medication can cause massive swelling that may last 3 to 10 days, especially when it is injected into the lower eye pads and chin. Treat bruising with Arnica cream, Arnica pills or Vitamin K cream.

3

Follow the recommended restrictions on activities after a mesotherapy session. Wear loose clothing on the treated area immediately afterward and don't wear makeup for at least four hours if the face was treated. Don't take a shower for eight hours and avoid vigorous exercise for two days.

4

Begin a diet and exercise program to prevent weight gain after receiving mesotherapy to reduce fat.

5

Expect mesotherapy to fail in at least 8 percent of cases. This rate is higher for physicians whose knowledge of mesotherapy is not complete. Remember, however, that the results from mesotherapy are gradual but should become visible after two or three sessions.
